Communicating Vessels I | 2015
Handmade pottery, found vessels, MP3 players, speakers, speaker fabric, (5) 9:44 audio tracks.
A sound sculpture which puts several different voices in conversation with each other on the topic of how we historicize art. The script for the piece collects excerpts from the writings of Helen Molesworth, Gilles Deleuze, Thierry De Duve, Rosalind Krauss, Maggie Nelson, Gertrude Stein and others. The chosen excerpts highlighted the way each writer discusses rhizomatic, non-linear ways of making connections through time. Speakers were installed in pots and buckets, each one amplifying a single voice.
