There is a street in the unincorporated town of Isla Vista, CA, where thousands of people under the age of 25 wander up and down its six short blocks, from party to party, from dusk until nearly dawn every weekend night. In this square mile community, Del Playa Drive is the locus of the night life. By inserting objects into the paths and hands of the revelers, the Del Playa Drive Projects use the foot traffic to transform the street from a route between parties into a place for interaction and adventure. Part celebration and part critique, the Del Playa Projects call attention to and alter the existing culture.
